Hello from Miss Ostrich!

Hi everybody!

I cannot help but beam as I write to you, my fantastic fellow weddingbees, for the first time! I have been inspired by each and every one of you for many months now as I've wandered along this wedding journey and to be selected to share my own ideas, artsy adventures, musings and mishaps with all of you is too awesome for words. I'm still pinching myself!

As a girl who grew up painfully shy until college, is sometimes awkward and not your "typical bird," Miss Ostrich was the perfect match for yours truly...minus the head in the sand :)

And before I go any further, I thought it would fun to share a little bit about me...and the hubby-to-be, Mr. Ostrich. I was inspired by my dear friend {since college!}, Mrs. Eggplant's "similarities & differences" post, so here we go!

"Birds of a Feather":

{The world-traveling Ostrich duo!}

No.1 - The Silver Screen
Mr. Ostrich & I might be the biggest film + tv buffs you've ever met. Seriously. I don't think there is a dvr yet that can accommodate the # of shows and movies we watch in our free time. "Mad Men," "Friday Night Lights," "Dexter," "Fringe," every show on the Discovery Channel & HBO, "Glee," "Survivor," "American Idol," "So You Think You Can Dance" - and those are just the tv shows that we love {and not including the girly ones I watch on my own}. Ridiculous, I know. but since Mr. O is a writer and recently completed his first screenplay, it's part of his craft...well, maybe not "Jersey Shore." ;)

No. 2 - Play Ball!
Growing up with the biggest sports fan as your father provides you with a love of the game. And with Mr. O also a huge sports fan, we quickly discovered our love for baseball, tennis and football. We spend our sunny days on the tennis courts or playing catch in the park. And, thanks to Mr. Ostrich, I'm now an obsessed player in fantasy sports leagues - it's crazy competitive, too much fun...and, ok, I'll just stop talking now.

No. 3 - Musicology
I think Mr. Ostrich and I were either deejays or record store owners in a past life. Mr. O was lucky enough to work in a record shop back in college {my dream! have you seen Empire Records?! Pretty in Pink?!} and he stole my heart when he made me my first mixtape {ok, cd}. We still make each other mixtapes and will be our own ipod dj for our little beach wedding :)

"Opposites Attract"

{Mr & Miss O - ringing in 2010!}

No 1. - Dancing Machine
I've been pirouetting, kick-ball-changing and hip-hop-grooving since I could walk. And even now, my favorite workout is my hip hop dance class on tuesday and thursday nights. The best parties are dance parties and my parents are ballroom dancers! Now, Mr. Ostrich is a great dancer when we're painting the town red...and recently he's learned to love the art of dance as he's become a fan of "So You Think You Can Dance." But between the two of us, dancing is in my heart and soul.

No. 2 - Game on
Mr. O, like many males, loves his share of video/computer games. And my love for dance is the same as his love for gaming. It's crazy, that whole world - sports games & mmo games. But as he's gotten older, the playing time has gotten a lot less frequent, but it's still one of his favorite things. I, on the other hand, only love the ridiculous "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero," games so I can channel my inner rockstar :)

No. 3 - Night & Day
Me? Early bird. Mr. Ostrich? Night owl. A lot of it is because of our professions {I'm a corporate fashion gal, he's a freelance writer for smaller, more creative firms} and because Mr. O does his best work in the wee hours of the night. I'm most productive the first few hours of the day. But despite these opposite clocks, we make time in between for us and our funny corgi pup, Napoleon!

Wow, I think by now you lovely 'bees have a pretty good picture of the Ostrich duo. Thanks for hanging out :) And with that, my fellow 'bees, I'll see you at my next post. Stay tuned!

xo,
Miss O.
