Stop and smell the roses?
Not an option for a little Ostrich growing up with big allergies {me}.
Also not an option for a grown-up Ostrich with a fiance with big allergies {still me}.
99 percent for the wedding decor I have found in the myriad of bridal mags and blogs have a bounty of blooms gracing the tables, arches, aisles...even napkin rings. And when Mr. Ositrich catches a glimpse of even one of these, He looks like he is about to sneeze! Oof!
Subjecting my favorite guy to an army of flowers is a definite no-no.
So aside from the required bouquets and corsages for the Ostrich entourage, We are keeping the flower power to a minimum. And, after some trial and error, we have found a few blossoms that are Ostrich-friendly. And thankfully, one of them is an absolute favorite of mine that I have always hoped to include in our special day.
The ever lovely lavender.
The fresh, relaxing scent, the unruly beauty, the marvelous hue - what is there not to like about lavender?
We'll be accenting the bouquets, filling a few of the vintage aqua mason jars, mercury glass vases and muave vitrocolor bottles and sprinkling our cupcakes with this charming flower. And if it works like my sea salts, aromatherapy oils and eye masks do, we'll be one laid-back crowd.
Sounds dreamy to me! :)
Sounds dreamy to me! :)
Until then, I'll be drawing inspiration from my little lavender board:

My bloom-loving bees, what flowers are you dreaming of for your big day? And for the fellow allergy ridden bride-to-bees, what decor ideas do you have in store?
xo,
Miss O.
I can relate to allergies, but at least you found a brilliant solution! Lavender is such a lovely flower and smell and color, it'll be fantastic at your wedding :)
